Addressed to Boyce Watkins’ response:

Am I supposed to feel sorry for you because you say men are abused by women? When a woman says “he was constantly emotionally abusive,” and it is easily accepted by both men and women that the man was the abuser, it’s because the bulk of abusers in abusive relationships ARE men.

The reason most men do not have to worry about losing their wealth to a gold digger is that 90 percent of the time, in relationships consisting of at least one person of color, the woman is the major financial contributor to the family. I’m not necessarily saying the major earner, but the major contributor. These are not prejudices I hold; these are facts that are easily backed up by statistics.

It is the exception, not the rule, when a woman emotionally abuses a man, and it is the exception, not the rule, when a black man contributes more money to a family than a black woman. Even when the man makes more money, he will contribute only so much, keeping the rest in his pocket for his needs and wants, while the woman contributes everything she brings home to ensure the family is fed and clothed and housed.

Again, these are not prejudicial beliefs; these are facts. And before you tell me to show you the research, which is SO common of men who doth protest too much, I am going to say YOU show ME the research that proves it is the other way around. I’ve seen the research. I’ve lived the research. My sisters have lived the research.

If you are one of those exceptions who makes more money and contributes all of it, or who is careful not to be emotionally abusive to your wife when you have had a bad day, I’m not going to bow down to you and tell you how lucky your future wife is. No, I’m going to say, “‘Bout time. And when are you going to convince your brothers that they should be doing that, too?”
