Meghan, Thank you for writing a multi-faceted and multi-dimensional analysis of the Carroll rape. I rarely see this kind of intelligent, questioning approach in the face of all the one-sided verdicts (e.g., “raped,” “loved it,” “victim,” “slut”). I’m just sorry you have to put up with all the responses from the one-dimensionals who can’t put aside their own biases long enough to entertain an idea they haven’t thought of themselves!

The quote from Moira Donegan in “The Atlantic” nailed it: “We have become comfortable with the hideous, made a friendly acquaintance with it, and are now at home being ugly, content to live alongside horrible things.”

I hope you will continue to share your questions and hypotheses with those of us who appreciate original thought.
